Runaway Love
You hope that you will never look back
After that one attack,
It was worse than the ones before,
And this time you’re running for the door,
He might regret what he has done
But his next move could be a gun,
You wish you had the guts,
To stop him from giving you deep cuts,
You wish you had that power
To just erase that one hour,
You know it’s wrong but you wish it could be right,
Just so you can be with him without a fight
But you fall into the same pattern,
Inside you there’s this roaring burn,
All you feel is that aching pain
This time it’s not a removable stain
After everything that he has done and said,
All this time you’ve just been hanging on a thread.
You know that you can’t leave and that you still love him,
It’s all you ever think about it when the lights are dim,
But you know you can’t go running back there,
No matter how much he loves you and claims he cares.
