Fighting the End
And so it seems
The end was not so near
In fact
I find that standing
Here, we will always
Never say goodbye
Along the seams
Our hands grab at
Memories floating
Dandelion seeds
We can’t catch
You know we were the ones
Who sent them
Flying, flying
This air teems
With words I never
Learned, to leave
I’d have to tear myself
Away from so much
I need
But needing
Is also wanting
To be honest, I want
To stay
A balance beam
We stumble, timid
Across
Holding hands and looking
Down
though it’s the one thing
We were told not
To do
So it seems
The end was not so near
In fact
We left it
Behind
Odds we beat
Lay dead in
Our wake, now
I look at you
Smiling
For we’ll always
Never say goodbye
