Nightmare
Last night I had
a Nightmare.
I was running down
a dark alley, but
from what I do not know.
I was cold, and
it was raining.
I saw a light,
somewhere far away.
So I ran with all my heart,
hoping the light was friendly.
When I got there,
I was filled with joy.
The shape I saw was
familiar.
What I saw was
you.
But,
when I got to you,
you turned and ran.
I was so scared,
so I ran after you,
calling your name as I ran,
but you never slowed.
When at last you stopped,
at first I was relieved,
then I was regretting that I ever ran.
What I saw was you,
kissing my worse enemy.
When I woke,
I was scared,
but,
not of the dark alley,
but of
what I saw last,
you kissing her.
