Goodnight, Friend
“I am your angel in the snow”
she whispered softly in my ear
and I won’t forget how
with her bony fingers
she drew a heart against my chest
as shut her eyes forever and
I couldn’t hide my tears
though she told me to be strong
I sang for her like she sang for me and
after all these years
(when she was just my friend)
I was everything to her
I never knew that
someone loved me and
I always wondered if
the moon does cry.
Tonight, I saw that
in all the pain of
her words,
the stars hung on
and moon shed a tear as
My best friend said good-bye.
My best friend said good-bye
and the moon shed a tear as
the stars hung on
her words,
in all the pain of
tonight, I saw that
the moon does cry.
I always wondered if

After all these years
I sang for her like she sang for me and

I couldn’t hide my tears
as she shut her eyes forever and

with her bony fingers
and I won’t forget how
she whispered softly in my ear
“I am your angel in the snow.”
