The Fire
As the coals begin to light
Rage smolders in your eyes
The heat revives the embers
You let your anger control you
Sacrifice your life to protect your soul
But it’s not working
Your soul is burning
Your pain has become an addiction
Your anger fuels the fire
Now you need the spark
That anger ignites all those around you
In turn you scorch yourself
You let yourself believe
Tell yourself every night
It’s not your fault
You’re burning inside
You have a right to be angry
You need the blaze to justify
Who you are and the way you act
But that doesn’t make it right
Everything is not okay
You only think of yourself
No one else matters
As long as you have a flame
You don’t have to change
You don’t have to answer for your actions
You don’t have to rebuild the bridges you’ve burned
