I Believed in Paris
Once I was young and,
I fell.
I got this scar on my arm,
It’s still there.
I thought it was an ugly scar
And I didn’t want anyone to see
So I covered it with my mothers makeup
I used to believe in Paris,
Way back when love began
The sun is brighter when
When we’re young
I thought that love
Meant sharing your candy sometimes.
Once I started school and,
I loved it.
My best friends name was Drew.
He used to hug me.
I thought he was a beautiful boy.
And I wanted to share it with the world.
We believed in Paris,
Way back when we watched movies
The story goes that,
That we fell in love
I thought that love
Meant sharing a bus seat
Once I was sorry and,
I cried.
I got this pain in my side
It darkened quickly
I thought it was a sad mark
And I didn’t want him to see
So I forgave him
I believed in Paris
Way back when he proposed
The sun is hard to find when,
You’re best friend falls in love with you.
I thought that love
Meant being complacent
Once I grew up and,
I fell.
I got this scar on my heart.
It’s still there.
I thought it was a beautiful scar.
But I didn’t want anyone to see
So I covered it up with a smile
I believed in Paris
Way back before love ended
The sun is darker when,
When we’re trying to run away
I thought that love
Meant hiding your bruises.
I don’t believe in Paris.
