My Last Breath
Day, nights, weekends
we breathe
me and you
all of us
all of the time
you don't even think about it
it's in our nature
as natural as
the floods,
hurricanes,
and fires
we take in oxygen
fill our lungs with air
knowing this could be the last time
but we don't think that
the fire burning inside us
could be killing us
we exhale
not thinking
the fire isn't gone
