come back
At first I told you to set sail
to trek across the sea
to carve a path through the water
but as I watched your eyes grow smaller
until the sea swallowed them whole
my eyes unfolded with jealously
my lips threw words
I couldn't explain
I commissioned a statue of you
to stand in my hall and
kiss my face with stares everyday
but you have no idea how much those statues cost
and the wax just melted between my fingertips
I knew if I took a walk my mind would slip away
and hover over something normal
the children screaming waring over a toy
or the white haired lady surrounded by green,
forever knitting, carrying a frown
but although my thoughts stretched and stretched
till I knew they would break,
our minds are still connected
