Orville Redenbacher Runs My Life
deep in the back back
 back of the cupboard
pull out the drawer and open
 the box
hear the pop, snap of the door
 the beep boop boop
 2 Mins of cracking
 it comes out smelling DELICOUS
and the kids all scooch over
 on the couch
 because you’re the
 coolest babysitter

 it sits in the window
 your friends are scared
so you walk up to the counter
 and ask the boy for
 one large bucket, three icees
 and he smiles and winks
 and flirts
 and your friends giggle
 and are scandalized
 because you’re so young
 and he’s not
and he asks if you want
 butter or salt
 and you say yes, lots
 even though you know
 later you’ll feel sick

 on tables by the door
he grabs you a bag to share
 you look around and see
 your friends on the bleachers
 and run to join them
 scooching over to make room
 and you watch whatever
 lifetime inspirational moment
 they want you to see
 surrounded by those
 you care about
 and trade comments with him
 in hushed voices
just like you trade the bag
