Tattoos
Dad has
millions of them,
When they were first applied
they were vibrant.
Every color of the rainbow,
dancing across his skin.
Birds tweeting
a melodious song of hope,
flying around, up his elbow.
Dragons curling up his arm
puzzle pieces putting themselves
together.
Memories permanently
inked on your skin.
But they fade
slowly with age.
Important dates,
loved ones all together,
on one person.
These tattoos will be
with him, his whole life.
But what happens
to them when his
life ends?

poignant; evocative.
memories are like snapshots in your mind's eye; call them to mind at will.
