Glass Kisses
I once loved someone as cold, as hard
 As a diamond.
 Frozen and flawless.
 No matter what my methods;
 How I tried,
 Strove,
 Reached higher and higher
 I almost never touched them.
 They stood far above me,
 Aloof,
 Aloft,
 Separated.
 But that may have been
 A fault of my own
For I placed them on a tower, a pedestal so high
That if they were to fall
 They would surely perish.
 But-
 Once in a blue moon,
 Once in a nightingale’s song,
I managed to pluck a shard of emotion
 From the shimmering façade
And was rewarded for my efforts
 With a single
 Glass
 Kiss.
