Only on Friday
The sun is bright in the sky,
The warmth is oh so nice,
The rays are long, golden sticks,
But that is only on Friday!
The grass is fresh and green and moist,
The scent of dew in the air,
It stands like soldiers in the sun,
But that is only on Friday!
There are children running with whoops of joy,
They laugh and sing and play,
They are like bluebirds singing their favourite song,
But that is only on Friday!
There are people returning home from work,
Their bags are light in their hands,
They are like runners, winning the marathon,
But that is only on Friday!
There are squirrels darting from one place to another,
Eating winter nuts,
They are like lightning, as quick as ever before,
But that is only on Friday
The breeze is light, but just enough,
For people to enjoy,
It’s like a ghost, whispers secrets,
But that is only on Friday
And me, amongst all this joy, I’m just another one,
A person who loves Friday evenings,
I AM the star in the sky,
But that is only on Friday!
