I stand there staring at a stone with engraved letters to blurred to read,
because of the waterfall pouring down my face,
hair dancing in the cold whistling wind,
as the preacher speaks the last of his prayer,
the guns are fired and the great American flag waves in honor of him,
I take one final look at his casket,
thinking,
there is another goodbye I never had a chance to say,
I stand there wondering if I should be happy for the better place,
or sad because of another lost goodbye.

I wrote this in honor of my Great Grandfather who died on my birthday 2010. He was a Vietnam war veteran with is why they shot guns at his funeral.
