Life Scale
Balance
Left board loads the things:
runny red nail polish, grit stained tennis shoes, clinky bracelets,
cherry jolly rancher, yellow carnations, steaming pot pies,
hard core rock, finger paints, mahogany wood, wrinkly baby elephants.
Weighed down to the surface, almost lifting up the middle triangle.
Right board carries the people:
friends, parents, smiliest cousin, silliest grandma
crazy guy outside of Walmart, locker buddy
coupon sharer, sparing teacher, insane pushy coach.
Now it’s level right down the middle.
One hundred eighty degrees.
In between rests what helped load each favorite:
compassion, interest, love
curiosity, demand, forgiveness
belief, wisdom, force
amazing how the scale tips level,
when what we think of ourselves is an orbit
