The Angel in Our Hearts
Nine years old
 Innocent
You couldn't have known about the evil in this world
 But that's how you left
 The monster took you
With a gun in his hands
Did you see the evil in his eyes?

We felt the pain of that day
 The same pain you felt
When the bullet pierced your heart
 Your nine year old
 Just beginning to live
 Innocent heart

 What would you have become?

Would you have gone from student council, to first woman president?
Would you have gone from helping others, to changing the world?

 We will never know
 What you would have become

How ironic is it that when you were there
 In that Safeway
You were in the most danger of your life

It is sad that your death
Has made us, has made me realize
 We should never grow up

You taught us to embrace those around us
As if they might slip away
You taught us to jump in rain puddles
 like no one's watching

You never should have experienced the evil that day

But I will tell you this
 Miss Green
You have become the angel in all of our hearts
