From the Eyes of a Child
Their hair was like popcorn kernels covered in chocolate and poofy like marshmallows,
Their skin was like playing in the mud,
Intriguing,
They were different,
But we were all the same,
They could ride a two-wheeler,
Blow the seeds off dandelions,
Watch them dangle in the wind like worms on a fishing pole,
It didn’t matter whether or not the pigments of our skin were polar opposites,
We all loved popsicles,
And we all wanted to become president.
