Glory of the Hawk

Day-light shows us,
soaring high above
On feather wings a mighty bird takes flight
Suddenly a shadow covers every the meadow…
Swiftly, harshly plummeting towards land
Clenching, ripping- eyes and wings expand
Flesh ‘n’ bone asunder
Talons keep digging under
Flesh ‘n’ blood asunder
As beak and talon lock
Behold the glory of the golden hawk
In its wooden nest it rests for the
setting sun.
Come tomorrow’s dawn he
again takes flight
High above
this holy spirit soars in light
And he soars
Overhead, nature’s golden knight…
