Waiting
Every day she watches, waiting for him to come,
Waiting for him walking up that empty road.
She is waiting, waiting for him to come.
Waiting for him to pick her up and hug her.
Waiting for him to say that he loves her and he missed his little girl.
Every day she asks her mom, "Is he coming today?”
Her mom says that he could come any day now.
But deep inside, she knows.
She knows he is not coming back.
She is waiting.
Waiting for him to come back to her.
Waiting for him to see how much their daughter has grown.
Waiting for him to say that she loves her and that he missed her.
Everyday her little girl asks, "Is he coming today?”
She tells her that he could come any day now.
But she knows he is not going to come.
Last week she got the letter.
That dreaded letter.
The letter that said he is not coming back.
