Voice
I have a voice to speak
I'm speaking out so why are you shutting me down
I'm telling you so why don't you listen
I have dream, yet you ignore me
I'm not a thing to be wasted
I have hope, but you crush it with words that you say
I am brave but yet you scare me, scared of the thought that I can't be something, that I'm a waste of time
I trouble people so that they will listen
listen to the cry that I cry
Why is it that you can listen to them but yet I sit in this dark corner and I cry to the river when it falls, crying a bunch that you listen
I see the hurt in the eyes of my brothers and sisters, but I am powerless to do anything
I can only cry hoping that you will someday listen
hoping you will listen to the voice that I have
Hear me speak the hurt of my people
