Reason to Bleed
How can you do it?
How can you
Put your arms around me;
Like all this time
Is forgotten;
Like I'm alive again,
Instead of lost
In oblivion;
As if you never
Called me those names,
Threatened me,
Put her and everyone
Over me.
How can you,
When I finally think
I'm over it,
Over you, us,
Make me feel everything
All over again -
So many memories,
What we had -
Missing you
The same as before.
So I realize
That I've only been
Lying to myself
This whole time.
How can you
Flirt with her,
She who you hated -
The worst time
Of your life -
And then come over,
Flirt with me
Like everything is
Mended, bandaged -
As if there was a chance
Of me and you,
Together again,
Though you assured me
There wasn't any.
I've tried for so long,
Tried to let go.
Now the tie that
Was frayed and loose
Has been fixed,
Strong as ever,
Out of my control.
Do you realize
You give me
Someone to love,
Unrequited;
You give me
False hope
To hold on to;
And you give me
A reason to bleed.
