Virtually Ignored
Bells ring.
 People chatter.
 I am virtually ignored.
 No one takes notice
 of me sitting here writing,
 scribbling as if to myself.
 At least it is better
 than talking to no one.
 Teacher calls roll,
 everyone is silent.
 The noise picks
 up again.
 No one
 would mind if
 I wasn’t here.
 I am virtually invisible.
 No one draws me into
 their seemingly important
 conversations.
 They merely look over
 or under
 or through
 me.
 I am virtually nonexistent.
