fender walls
Steam rolls like an ocean wave
 Across the black top;
 Greeting the rubber lining along
 Random tires.
 But they don’t stop,
 The storm keeps them going;
 Keeps them slicing through puddles
 along the interstate;
 No thought of slowing.
 Push through,
 Pushing on.
 Rain water spins across the tires,
 Rolling over the treads,
 Blasting up into the fender walls;
 And then
 Then it falls
 Back to the fuming road,
 The steaming blacktop.
 And not one car
 Cares to stop
 And look back.

 It reminds me of you.
