The Perspective of Beauty
Beautiful
Everything is beautiful
In the dull gray
Cloud-filled day
The trees
As they sway
Back and forth
Gently in the breeze
The road
Smooth gravel
Each imperfection
A story
The people
A heart and soul
Behind each shell
Love seeping out
The next day
The sun shines
But the world is ugly
Everything is ugly
The trees screech
As they bend back and forth
Almost to the point
Of breaking
The road is colorless
The yellow faded away
Leading to nothing
The people encased within
Hiding in thoughts
Swirling in whirlpools
Of emotions
Stuck in winter worlds
Where nothing melts
Or stuck in hells
Rage and regret burning bright
How can the world
Change so abruptly
How can one pair of eyes
See it from two very different
Perspectives
Why can’t we burn away
All moments of ugliness
Light them on fire
And watch the ashes
Float away
Carried on the wings
Of hope
Why can’t we freeze
Moments of happiness
So that they last
Forever
So that one moment
One glimpse
Of sunshine
Could light a soul
With happiness
Forever
Why must I suffer
Seeing the world both ways
All I want
Is to see the world
In reality
I’m scared
That if I don’t
That if it constantly changes
Reality will fade away
And all I’ll be left with is
Nothing
