Sleep Well, Broken Heart
bed sheets wrap over me,
covering me in your warmth…
I dreamt of consoling you,
speaking gentle, soft,
now there is no one to
console my own morning mourning tears…
my high-heels are beside the bed,
half-full glass of red wine
spilt on the sheets, like blood,
pink carnation on the pillow, still scented,
diamond earrings on the dresser,
shining teardrops,
hand-drawn pictures of you
litter the floors,
cover the walls,
swallow my mind…
I press the sheets to my face,
but the sweet, coffee-musk of you
is fading…
