Sometimes
Sometimes I stare into the darkness,
Looking but can’t see the light.
Sometimes I grope in the blackness,
Feeling but can’t find the flame.
Sometimes I look into the nighttime,
Searching but can’t find the stars.
Sometimes I fight through the jungle,
Hacking but can’t find my way.
Sometimes I swim through the water,
Drowning but can’t find the air.
Sometimes I fall from above,
Falling but not striking the ground.
Sometimes I draw up my defenses,
But as I prepare for siege, they box me in.
Sometimes I meet them in battle,
But these demons they never give in.
Once I reached out in compassion,
and now I see, feel, find, breath again.
