The World Carries On
Darkness, absence of light
not a single thing in sight
a tiny heart beat sputters
thump, thump, thump
like an eerie melody
it pierces the quiet night
flash, a speck of light
against the inky black
it lights up the world
revealing fragile lies
eyes, soft blue
a delicate form
dressed in azure
her lips tremble
the candle flickers
she's all alone
howl, a wolf
beneath the lonely moon
he sees her standing still
his thoughts dark
she's unaware
Fear, hers is great
the wolf drops his skin
a human form he takes
his arm around her waist
his mind absent
Kiss, a flash of fangs
he sinks them deep
her lips part in screams
he silences her
with a sin of greed
death, it takes her close
it dons her with a velvet cloak
protecting her from all the hurt
allowing her to leave
this empty world
Regret, the wolf does feel
once the sun appears
his lover lying
cold and still
before him, unconcealed
Pain, his is great
he finds a blade
holds it close
shaking hands
around the hilt
he plunges it in
to his murderous heart
silence, no more sound
two lovers lie
beneath the frosty ground
and honest mistake
that can't be undone
but still the world
will carry on
