Dead Soldier’s Soul
When we die,
 Is there a heaven?
When there is war do we survive,
Or thank the peace that has been found?
Oh dear me, will someone miss me,
Will anyone shed a tear for me?

 When the light goes out,
 And our time is done,
 Will anyone miss me?
 Will anyone care?
 Will anyone go into despair?

In the deepest part of death I lay,
 Thinking one day,
 I might be heard,
 Then wars will end,
 And we’ll thank the peace,
 And someone will
 Just one day say…

 “We’ve heard your prayers.
 We will remember.
 We will surrender
 To your dying cries.
 We will miss you.
We will shed a tear for whom…

 Has stopped our wars,
 opened our eyes
 To something new.
 Oh dear soldier,
 We will remember you.”
