Like a Promise
I'm holding you up,
like a leaf, by a thread,
and I try to mend the parts that are broken.
I urge you on,
to keep on swimming
through these cool, crystal waters,
I try to mend the parts that are broken.
I envision the sunlight that could one day dance upon us,
the pressure's all on me, it seems,
to make sure nothing frowns upon us.
You find you're fraying at the edges,
your worries try to drown us.
Paddling, gasping, that's where they found us.
I won't let this die,
too much warmth to cling to and bluer skies.
I'd feel alright and I'd be okay,
but my love's like a promise, I'd miss you everyday.
So I work 'til I wither away,
I try to mend the parts that are broken.
