Little Blue Marble
Think of it as a
Little blue marble
Blown into being in a master glassblower’s shop
Quivering, warm breath still held inside it
Painted by white swirls of storms
Thumbprinted green, blue by God
Footprinted brown, black by man
Beautiful and scarred
Hanging in a fortunate dip in the black velvet box of our universe
Caught in suspension by lucky circumstance
Watching as we live on its surface
Proud and ashamed of our messy humanity
Because we played for keeps
Now we play like we didn’t
If you only had one
Little blue marble
Would you let it crack?
Would you give it back?
