El Alba
12:01 A.M.
Battery half dead;
I sit and twitch at
the moon who floods her icy
night onto my bare skin-
I sit and twitch like a fiend
waiting for that buzz
that next vibration on my cellphone
that indicates I've received a new text
I sit and crave
the sensations each of my nerves intoxicate themselves with when they dance on your skin
while you tango with my thoughts
12:07 A.M.
plugged in the charger;
I sit cross legged, cross minded, cross multiplying the reasons why
you don't write back--
you said "it's going too fast"
So
I sit and contemplate the cat-
-Like a sunken ship he sleeps,
coral reefs etched into his fur
while he sleeps and dreams of his cat companions and careless cat days
and i sit;
(in my human flesh)
lacking such coral reefs
and white whale dreams-
with all my petty human plights
waiting for an answer
in the middle of the night
