Dear Poetry
What makes you so great, so powerful?
Is it because you twist reason into truth?
Hold power to create in ones mind?
Or solely because you say what I can't?
Maybe its your desire that I love.
Your simplicity.
Your ability to construct beauty from ones torment.
From ones passion.
You take something as plain as a word,
and create a masterpiece.
A masterpiece of emotion, and structure,
left for me, the reader, to decipher.
You are a vision left to interpret.
A secret yet to be revealed.
Even though you need no meaning,
have no definition.
And in all honestly I’ve missed you.
The exhilaration you bring.
Knowing that I am in control,
and no matter how inessential my thoughts may be,
you listen.
You are my friend, my best friend.
My alter ego to say the least.
The one addiction I will never depart from.
Simply because you make me who I am.
