Proud to be single
As I am single and enjoying my life
I see no need to take on a wife
I leave for work, don’t have to say “bye”
And when im home late, don’t have to say why
The company I keep is chosen by me
It can be a pal, or maybe a she
Who cares if I shave or miss an odd shower?
I just rub on a bit more aftershave powder
Money’s no problem, it’s all my own
I’m the envy of the wedlock, I can hear them moan
My decisions are for me to make
There’s no one else to give a head shake
At every wedding, as the priest reads his text
Some well meaning woman will say, “You’re next”
I think to myself if I get a chance
I’ll fix her one liner with a smile and a glance
Low and behold I did get my chance
I was elated, I thought I should dance
As we leaned forward to give our best
To put a friend to his final test
I caught her glance, as she read from the test
I gently leaned forward and said “you’re next”
