This photograph’s from our summer vacation,
That week-long trip to Florida;
It captures you perfectly.
You’re sunning yourself on the beach—
God,
It must have been well over a hundred degrees,
But you wanted to tan before getting wet.
You’re smiling,
But I can’t see your eyes through your sunglasses.
In the picture,
You’ve turned to look at the camera over your shoulder—
Hair wild,
Cheeks flushed—
You look fantastic and happy.
I almost missed myself,
Sunburned so pink I’m nearly unrecognizable,
Lying on the towel beside you.
