The Survivor
Where's my home?
Is it that pile on my neighbors lawn,
Is it the debris on the street,
Is it on the tree that fell and broke my car,
Is it beside that man who lays...
Breathless and unmoving.
I can't find my home.
It's been destroyed.
Torn apart and ripped to pieces.
The last thing i saw was darkness.
The last thing i heard was screaming.
I now look around and am horrified.
I see death and rubble
I hear crying and sighing.
My life has been destroyed.
I can not find my family.
I want to cry,
but nothing comes to my throat.
There is no joy left in the world.
But one thing i know,
And can say proudly...
I am still alive.
