She poisoned an apple
Just for me
But we involuntarily share it

She lay a trap
Just for me
But we both fell in it

She broke my heart
Just for fun
But cracked her in the process

We choked on poison
And gagged on lies
We plummeted together
Screaming at (and for) each other all the way down

Our hearts were shattered
But we scotch-tapped them back
Together
The two of us
And yet

We're both still full of venom
We're both still stuck in a downward spiral
And
The scotch-tape isn't sticking

The author's comments:
The event this poem is about left me severley scared and partially depressed, I hate to say it but it's true.
It was the hardest most traumatic and yet most beneficial thing that has ever happened to me.

Be careful the words you speak,
make them soft and sweet;
You never know from day to day,
which ones you'll have to eat;

I agree, you were able to reveal your pain in a very interesting way.

After reading your description, and tying that and the words in this poem together. I can develop an small understanding, kind of. That's the only way I know how to put it. But this is lovely, your language and the metaphors are great.
