Jaded
We are consumed with the idea
that we need the truth
of all things.
So raw and uncensored,
that it dulls the mind’s fervor
for anything exceptional
or for anything horrendous.
The value of life trampled
by the indifferent expressions
of those who recite:
"It’s not that shocking;
I’ve seen it before."
or
"It happens all the time."
Ethics so blurred,
morality obscured,
by the shadow of reason
and logical process.
The rise of mankind
only leads
to the fall of humanity.
