it's funny to me
it's funny to me,
the way people are.
i wonder how they think, and why they act the way they do.
they push each other and fall all over themselves to be first in line, on top.
first in line for what? on top of what?
it's funny to me.
it's funny to me,
the way the sun rises.
i wonder why it gets up every morning only to go back down.
it is always bright, even when the world is gloomy.
why is it so bright? why are we so gloomy?
it's funny to me.
it's funny to me,
the umpire's strike zone.
i wonder how a pitch at the letters is called a ball.
it is called a ball every time, yet the fans still scream obscenities.
why is it a ball? how come the umpire doesn't change his outlook?
it's funny to me.
it's funny to me,
the way students take school for granted.
i wonder if they ever get tired of complaining about it.
it is what makes their future, yet they feel forced to attend.
why not try to learn something? why not drop out and become a bum?
it's funny to me.
it's funny to me,
the diversity of this poem.
i wonder why i chose the objects that i did.
it is hardly rational to write about the sun and an umpire and school together.
how are they related at all? why do i think the way i do?
it's funny to me.
