Siblings
Starting from day one, competition begins
The never-ending battle
From baby blankets to teddy bears
And the first few steps and words
Through year five, competition continues
The ever-lasting battle
From learning letters to learning numbers
And Christmas presents and toys
Through year ten, competition continues
The ceaseless battle
From meeting new people to seeing new places
And throwing great birthday parties and receiving gifts
Through year seventeen, competition continues
The immeasurable battle
From high school grades to college acceptances
And first relationships and numerous friends
Through year thirty, competition continues
The endless battle
From getting married to raising a family
And getting jobs and making money
Through year sixty, competition continues
The eternal battle
From retiring early to living life fully
And having grandchildren and buying them gifts
Through year seventy, competition continues
The unending battle
From planting gardens to going on vacation
And playing chess and winning checkers
Through year eighty, competition continues
The infinite battle
From looking back on memories to having good times
And the life and smiling
For almost forever, competition exists
Until death it will live
From beginning to end
And through thick and thin
So cherish the blessings of time to you and you siblings
To nurture the bond that carries on throughout life
Until the end where the roads depart
