Standing Still
I’m scared
That if I stand still
These thoughts will drown me
So, I chase down vacant dreams
Hoping a real one will find me in its shadows
Plastic
Hopeless
Disastrous
Is what they call me
I lost the real me the day you turned your back
And I still can’t understand why you did
Flawless
Beautiful
Desirable
Is what I wish I was
Or at least, I wish, that’s how you saw me
I’m terrified
That I’ll lose myself in this chase
So, lay with me for a while
In my wake-less empty dreams
I won’t be sleeping for long
I promise
Now.
Is the time to change
I will let go of these reigns
And forgive
Believe me when I say I loved you
But understand that it’s too late for us
I can’t leave my heart in this fire forever
Waiting for you to save it.
