Sings Me Home MAG
Sunlight drips onto naked earth, scorched red, burning sunset
Watching the children play and laugh
I will remember tonight as a scrape on my knee
An empty plastic cup
I will visit this moment as a slow melody
Painted somewhere empty inside my mind
Singing out of tune, watching me watching you
I will think of you as frozen time on a dead clock
Icy water, kissing the forehead of a thousand different stones
Treading along, watching the minnows dance around our feet,
I will hear your voice as the whisper of our abandoned creek
Ankle-deep, tree boughs swaying around the beams of light
Remember me as the twinkle of stars in the night
Over our heads, as we wonder how long it'll be
Wind howling in the tangle of my hair, your hand still on my thundering heart
The moon, spotting you, seeing me
In translucent colors and marvelous beauty
Lined skin unseen, words becoming hushed and whispered
As you sleep serene and peaceful, I wonder how to feel you as your cotton shirt
Always loose on small shoulders,
When I carry on where birds havenever flown
Fading phone calls, poor reception, yellow pages, back always on gravel roads
I will know you as the dream that sings me home
