Shackles
I just wanted a small part in your world to make sense.
You’re secrets inside, they wear you to the bone.
I wanted more of you, more of this, hence
your dreaded bitterness left me all to my ‘lone.
The shackles around your feet,
they’re too heavy for me to drag about.
The leftovers of your heart, hard as concrete,
surrounding my feet as it slowly pours out.
Lingering on my toes a while, but when day break sets in,
the morning sun will dry us up, and this will be as if it’s never been.
