I Saw Him Walk Away
so you'll be here tonight?
-sure, 7 o clock works for us,
we wont be late.
the butterflies had found their home in my stomach.
i hadn't agreed to this.
this was to be the perfect night.
we had both arrived,
just us two. alone.
i had hoped for something more.
maybe a sharing of our feelings,
the exchanging of our hearts.
even a simple piggy back ride would do.
but i was checking the time frequently,
and searching everywhere.
i had been expecting some other company.
maybe they are stuck in traffic.
and suddenly a sharp pain.
angry words flew like enemies' crossfire.
accusations like the most dreadful weapons.
from annoying, insufficient, smalltalk to these words?
we had come to battle, to war.
our night ruined. the reasons being:
Perfect Timing didn't get the memo.
Just The Right Words forgot about our plans.
and Fate had gotten lost...
i saw him walk away,
all because Destiny was running late.
