To most people, they are ordinary steps.
Nothing to think twice about.
They don’t bring back any special memory.
They are just steps seen everyday.

For me however, they are a reminder of him-
Of our precious kisses
Never to be relived
Yet always remembered.

When I see that staircase
I can feel his lips against mine again
And his arms wrapped around my waist
So gentle, oh so gentle.

I remember the words whispered in my ear;
Our smiles and my gentle giggle.
The feel of his forehead resting against mine.
I remember joy I felt from being loved by him.

I walked past those steps yesterday.
Memories flooded my mind and goose bumps appeared on my skin.
I gave a sad smile and continued on my way.
Those steps are just a little more than ordinary to me.
