The Last Time I Saw You
The last time I saw you. . .
Your shirt clung tight to your skin
Held in place by sweat and euphoria
Your feet were dirty, bare and rough
You'd been chasing fairies
Your hair hung in knots about your face
Which smiled, grubby, white and red
Burnt by the sun, painted by mulberries
Your voice was hoarse, bright and tiny
You'd been laughing, singing, screaming
And your hands were brown with tiny cuts
You brought me a rose
The last time I saw you
