The Abandonment
"No daddy, don't go!"
I called after him, nurses trying to pull me down.
I watched him touch my mother's arm as she pulled away, scowling.
Restating her hatred yet again.
His eyes were scared and filled with invisible tears.
A nurse touched my shoulder.
I pulled away and screamed after my father, but the door had closed in my face.
Now there was a barrier between me and him.
I touched the door and pushed my face against it, silently sobbing.
A counselor came in the other door and asked me questions I didn't pay attention to.
I kept pressed against the door.
hoping it would open and I could run into my father's arms.
"Then can come back on Tuesday."
said a voice.
It was only Friday.
I screamed, still facing the door.
I screamed all my thoughts, unorganized, switching ideas mid sentence until I wasn't using real words anymore. next thing I knew I was in a small room, barely big enough for me to lay it, with a mirror on ceiling.
I saw nothing in the mirror, and I heard voices from every direction.
They were taunting and hateful.
Then I heard one I was certain came from reality.
"We might need a straight for this one,"
then I realized what I had become.
