Still Ignited MAG
Thin, beaten building structures lean
against the
ash-filled winds.
Disintegrating tinder of
rusted keys and charred money;
their edges singed by snapping sparks.
Ripped out, fraying Bible pages
fuse to warped, stained knives while
etched shards of glass graze across searing, abandoned handcuffs and
cracked open fireman helmets.
As a slumped-over rag doll clings to a clean white note inscribed
“Hope you have a wonderful day!
I'll be thinking of you!”
with its flame nipped hands;
Its scarlet hair-ends still ignited.
