Broken Bridges
Do you still not trust me
After all I’ve done for you,
All I’ve been through with you?
I stood under
Your constantly falling bridge,
There to simply support it
As you walk across
With a jackhammer in your hands.
The rubble
Of the bridge that means
The most to me
Is too much to bear.
All bridges will soon fall.
All bridges of yours will break,
But only you can say when.
I have grown
Strong for you!
This weight
I can no longer bear.
The bridge caves in,
It falls into the water,
Making the unstable base
For another friend,
Another friendship,
Another time;
Maybe.
Besides,
What can be built
Off the rubble of a
Broken Bridge?
