Young, Hopeful
They said I couldn’t do it,
I was too young,
Too weak,
Too inexperienced.
They said it’s a cut-throat business,
One of crime,
Of scandal,
Of love.
They said it pulls you in,
Almost an addiction,
A yearning,
A lust.
They said there’s no hope,
I’m not that one in a million,
That “it” girl,
That star.
They said the lights does things to your mind,
It makes you crazy,
Insane,
Disturbed.
And yet, I long for it,
The bright lights,
The cameras,
The fame.
They said I couldn’t do it,
But look at me now.
