Heart & Headphones
It shakes my skull
like a tambourine,
reaching sounds to
pluck against
my brainstem
one
two
three
and drop them
down my spine
rapping
tapping
a xylophone
pure beats to
echo
in my ribcage,
to strum
against the strings
reverberating
resonating
deep
until they
draw out wide
and poetic
against my hips,
holding
molding
through the curve
to fall
down
the violin
of my thighs
sweet notes
shaking
breaking
holding on tight
to my kneecaps
humming
thrumming
momentarily,
striking calves like
drums
to split me open
seam to seam.
Sometimes, I
feel it
in my bones;
that intimate moment
between
my heart
and
my headphones.
