Dying
I close my eyes
I hear pleading, yelling, and crying
I open my eyes
I see smiles
I hear signs of relief
I stare at the ceiling
The lights are too bright
I hear voices, but
I can’t understand them
I think of when
I met the love of my life
Then the day I let him go
Then of when he came back to me
The memories are so
Life-like and real
It’s as if I’ve gone
Back in time and
Am reliving them
I turn to the people
Who I do not recognize
I close my eyes
And all goes dark
